Happy day after Lucia's Day! Here are the St. Lucia Buns: so good! St. Lucia's Day is a Swedish Christmas tradition, and because of our large Swedish heritage, we have celebrated it the past few years for fun and because a hundred years ago, that was what our family was doing.
St. Lucia was a girl that would feed the poor and the prisoners by night so she wouldn't get caught. She wore a pine bow as a crown to hold up the candles, wore a white dress with a red sash, and carried a tray of food and more
candle light. Now we celebrate it with the eldest daughter of the family dressing in a white dress, cranberry and pine crown and sash and carrying a tray of coffee and Lucia buns(since all of us pretty much hate coffee, we use hot chocolate). She gets up in the morning, while it's still dark, for St. Lucia night is the longest of the year. By candlelight she walks into the parents' room first, and then the others before they go to the candle-lit table for a warm, Lucia breakfast.
December 13th.
Merry December 14th!
